“This is sweet!” Matt mouthed to Sean. Sean nodded, he couldn’t keep his eyes off the elaborate sound system.
“Where are we going Mr. Smith?” Matt asked, regretting the can of pop he had before leaving, they had been driving for an hour so far and he needed to use the bathroom. He had asked Jessica but she pretended not to know.
Mr. Smith caught Matt’s eye in the rear-view mirror. “We’re almost there, sit back and enjoy the ride.”
Confident that her father couldn’t see them, Matt placed his hand on top of Jessica’s and gave it a squeeze. She smiled at him causing the blood to rush to his face and penis.
Thirty minutes later her father pulled in front of a two-level brick house. Matt shot out of the truck. “Where’s the bathroom?” he asked while wiggling around like an eight-year-old who was one giggle away from pissing in his pants.
Mr. Smith strolled toward the front door, fumbled with his keys while trying to find the right one to open the door. A second later, he found it and flung the door open. “What’s this?” Matt hissed to Jessica as they all stepped inside.
“Our cabin,” she whispered back. She figured that her father wouldn’t be too upset with her for telling him where they were, since they were already there. She knew immediately where they were going as soon as he passed the exit for Niagara Falls.
Samantha who had been quiet as a rapper at a Kenny Chesney concert suddenly talked. “Wow girl. This house is crunk!” Jessica’s wealth continued to surprise her.
They had entered into a huge foyer and beyond that Samantha saw a giant living room. She couldn’t wait to explore the rest of the house. If this house was any where as nice as Jessica’s main home, Samantha knew it was going to be bananas.
“It’s nice. Sometimes we come up here to go skiing. A resort isn’t too far away from here. I’ll let you know the next time we go so that you can come.”
Samantha had never been on a pair of skis in her life, but it sounded fun and if her girl invited her, she was there, no questions asked. “You’re just a regular girl,” Samantha said amazed. If she had Jessica’s type of money she’d be living like Mary J. Blige. And MTV would be all up in her business she’d be on Cribs and My Sweet 16.
“You know how I feel about the money,” Jessica said. She and Samantha were in the kitchen setting the table. Obviously her father had planned on coming and had called ahead to have a local restaurant deliver some food. “It’s my parents.”
“True dat. But it seems like you’re beginning to enjoy it more,” Samantha ventured.
Jessica thought for a moment then said, “I guess I am. I don’t feel as guilty about it and I think I know the reason.”
“What’s that girl?”
“Philanthropy. My parents do it all the time our family even has its own foundation and they serve on several boards.”
“So you like giving?”
“I do. The look on your face when you opened your gift and found out you were going to Hawaii was priceless, just priceless. I want to give people a taste of heaven on earth whenever I get the chance.”
Samantha’s eyes watered. Jessica was the nicest girl she had ever met. “You’re blessed girl, just blessed.”
Jessica set a fork down on the table and glanced out the window, her father had Matt and Sean went outside to chop wood. She could see Matt and Sean shivering while her father effortlessly cut the wood. It was too far away for her to see the expressions on their faces, but their body language was saying that her father was reprimanding them. “What are they talking about?” she wondered out loud. “They all look so serious.”
“It must be serious since your dad drove us all the way up here.”
“I know, it seems like he could’ve talked to them at the house.”
“I can’t wait to hear what they talked about,” Samantha said excitedly.
Twenty minutes later they all trooped back into the house.
Every time Jessica tried to talk to Matt or get his attention he brushed her off as though she was annoying paparazzi. She noticed that Sean was giving Samantha the same freeze treatment.
After a hot lunch the group slid into the truck. “What did you and my father talk about? You didn’t look happy when you guys came back in.” As soon as her father, Matt and Sean came back inside, her father didn’t leave them alone for a minute. So asking any questions wasn’t possible.
Matt risked a glance toward the rear-view mirror, Jessica’s father had his eyes glued to the road. He had turned on NPR. Fortunately, the classical music was loud enough that they didn’t have to whisper.
“He told us about how he started his business with just a dollar and a dream.”
Jessica rolled her eyes. “Yeah, he loves to tell that story. What else, that shouldn’t’ve bothered you.”
“It didn’t,” Matt admitted.
“Well what then?” Jessica asked impatiently.
Matt looked at everybody except her, her father, Samantha then Sean. “He told me to enjoy myself in Hawaii but if I touched you, he would break every bone in my body. And Jessica I believed him.”
Jessica suddenly realized why her father brought them to their cabin. There’s nothing more convincing than a man holding an ax.
Chapter 19
Jessica unpacked her suitcase while Samantha sang in the background. For the last ten minutes she had been waltzing then running through the suite as though she had just won the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. Jessica smiled at her friend while she put her clothes in the dresser drawers. This was her regular suite that she normally shared with Nora, but since Samantha had come Nora decided to spend the holidays with her aunt.
Jessica was used to the two bedroom, junior suite, with its mahogany furniture and plush rug, kitchenette, and it’s best feature a private balcony. She never tired of the view, which overlooked the ocean.
“Can you say heaven?” Samantha sang. As soon as she stepped off the plane and even before the Hawaiian lady could place a lei around her neck, she had called her mother and jokingly told her she had died and gone to heaven and that she wasn’t coming home.
“Dang girl, this place is sick! I love it. I wonder what Sean’s suite looks like?”
“Why don’t you go through my parents’ suite to find out,” Jessica quipped.
“Funny!”
“The guys’ suite is exactly like ours. I’m sure they’re relaxing.” Jessica reached into her suitcase and pulled out a swim suit and held it out. “Do you think Matt’s gonna like this?” she asked Samantha.
“He’s gonna go nuts, crazy nuts. I don’t know how he’s going to keep his hands off you.”
“You think?” Jessica asked while holding the suit against her and studying her reflection. “I do like the color.” The hot pink sizzled against her skin. She hadn’t worn a swim suit since she was five-years-old, and even then she hated them.
“It’s hot!”
“I’d feel like cotton candy on a stick.”
“But a cute one,” Samantha reassured her. “I can’t wait to wear mine.” Samantha reached into her suitcase and pulled out a bikini. “I’ll look even cuter than you,” Samantha joked as she wiggled the bikini in front of Jessica. “Let’s get this party started! I’ll change first.” She hurried to the bathroom. “Call the boys and tell them to meet us in the lobby,” she called over her shoulder.
Thirty minutes later they all met up in the lobby. Jessica grinned at Matt’s reaction when he saw her, his mouth nearly dropped to the marble floor.
“Yo dawg, close your mouth, unless you want me to stick a pineapple in it,” Sean joked, then, “Come here shawty,” he said beckoning to Samantha. “You’re looking good baby,” he murmured in her ear. Samantha’s bikini showed all her curves. “Come on let’s go play with the dolphins,” he said while grabbing her hand.
“You look awesome!” Matt exclaimed.
“Thanks so do you.” And he did. His weight loss looked good on him. Although he didn’t have Matthew
McConaughey’s body, he was toned in all the right places. And his swim trunks hung off his waist in such a way that made her want to take a peek.
“But you look fabulous!” The swimsuit pushed her breasts up and out towards him and peeking out under her sarong were thick juicy turkey drumstick type legs that he loved.
“Thanks, again.” And Jessica cheesed until her mouth hurt. He always make me feel so good. “I wasn’t sure how I’d look in a bathing suit,” Jessica admitted. “I probably tried on a million before I found this one. I was close to having my mom call a designer at BCBG so that she could design me a suit.” Suddenly Jessica blushed. “Listen to me sounding like a spoiled rich girl. I’m sorry.”
“Stop tripping, you’re not spoiled. You’re the least spoiled person I know. That’s your world Jessica. You have designers at your fingertip.” Matt pointed to his swimming trunks. “I have Kmart at mine,” he joked. “It’s like we’re on the same playing field.”
“Kmart isn’t that bad,” she offered. “I think Nora took me there one time.”
Matt raised an eyebrow. “Now you’re sounding like a rich brat. But a cute one.” He lassoed her waist with his arm and pulled her close. Bending down he rubbed his nose against hers. “Hey sexy.”
Jessica blushed again, then quickly pulled away from Matt. She stared wide eyed around the lobby. “You’d better be careful. My father might see you.”
Matt grinned. “It’s okay. He stopped by my suite to tell me that he and your mom were going to take a helicopter ride then go on a picnic.”
“Ooh, how romantic,” Jessica said. She admired her parents’ marriage, they always looked so happy together. “But why didn’t they tell me? I am their daughter, their only child.”
“Your father said he tried, but no one answered your door.”
Jessica thought for a second before answering. “Oh, that must’ve been when Sam was in the shower and I ran down to the gift shop to buy a toothbrush. I thought Nora would’ve packed one, but she must’ve forgotten.”
“So sexy you know what that means don’t you?” Jessica shook her head. “It means that I can touch you all I want and keep my bones intact.”
“Cool.” Jessica grabbed his hand and returned it to her waist. And before he knew what was happening she cupped the back of his head and pulled his face toward her. She gently outlined his lips with her tongue.
Matt exhaled sharply when she slipped her tongue in his mouth, he eagerly grabbed on to it and began sucking it like it was a million dollar lollipop. It was the sound of the concierge clearing his throat that made them jump apart. Matt was thankful that the swimming trunks were baggy.
“Sorry,” he mumbled as he grabbed Jessica’s hand and pulled her toward the exit.
Later that night Jessica, Matt, Samantha and Sean sat on the sand and watched in awe as the dancers swiveled their hips to the sultry drums.
The young couples sat a respectful distance away while enjoying the show. Matt’s, Samantha’s and Sean’s eyes bounced from one sight to another. Since this was Jessica’s fifth luau she sat back and enjoyed the show and their reactions. Jessica’s parents were a discreet distance away.
A buffet of food was set out. Poi, chicken long rice, lomi salmon, coconut custard, sweet potato, salad filled and a multiple of different treats filled the table.
Matt ripped off a piece of pork and stuck it in his mouth. “This is so good.”
“I know!” Jessica said over the noise. “It just melts in your mouth. Have you tried the poi?”
“It’s off the chain,” Matt answered then dug his fingers in the thick paste then stuck his fingers in his mouth.
“Ewww not like that. I’ll show you.” She pressed her index and middle fingers together, stuck them in the mixture and rotated her fingers twice before sticking them in her mouth. “See that’s how you do it,” she said after swallowing.
Matt glanced at Jessica’s parents, they were engrossed in the show and he felt confident enough to lean toward their daughter. “You looked so hot doing that. Can I lick your fingers later tonight?”
“Matt!” Jessica squealed then she nodded quickly.
“You’re bad girl,” Samantha whispered in Jessica’s ear.
“Good!” Jessica quipped as her face shined with happiness.
“This was a one of a lifetime experience,” Matt said to Jessica. They were sitting side by side on the beach watching the sunset, they were careful not to touch each other, her parents were within eyeshot. “I appreciate it baby. This Christmas is crunk.”
“You’re welcome,” she said shyly.
“I mean it. You didn’t have to do this. You’re a very giving person. That’s why I love you.” And he meant it, no one had ever been so generous with him, not even his parents and he loved her kindness. She never said it but he knew her parents were worth millions, but she acted as humble as if her father was a garbage man. She humbled him.
Jessica’s eyes grew wide. “You love me?” Matt nodded. “Honest?”
“Honest,” Matt answered. “You know I can’t kiss you because of the wardens, but you know that I would like to.”
“I know.”
“I can’t wait to give you your Christmas gift tomorrow.”
“This is the best Christmas ever,” she said as she beamed at Matt.
“Mine too. I don’t think that I’ll ever spend Christmas in Hawaii again. So I’m going to enjoy my last couple days here.”
“Me too,” Jessica whispered then she rubbed her foot against his.
“You rebel,” Matt joked, knowing that if her parents caught them, there would be hell to pay.
“Yeah, I don’t want another punishment like the one I got when I kissed Marco.” Matt’s eyes narrowed. Oh crap! “I’m sorry Matt.”
“So you’re still thinking about Marco?” He angrily shook his head. “Man you played me.”
“That’s not true!” Jessica yelled and she nervously looked in her parents’ direction, she gave her mother a thumbs up. “You are so wrong,” she hissed.
“I doubt it. You just can’t stop talking about him. So you couldn’t get him so you decided to settle for his fat friend. Guess what Jessica, I’m not going to be the booby prize.”
Jessica saw her dreams of a Merry Christmas evaporating before her eyes. “It was just a kiss. I haven’t thought about it since then,” she lied, the incident occasionally popped into her head. “And I don’t even know why I mentioned it.”
“I know why,” Matt answered as he stood up and wiped the sand off his shorts. “Because you’re still feeling him.”
“Where are you going? Come back and finish talking.”
Matt reluctantly plopped down. “What?” he asked, sulking.
“I love you, I really do and I’m sorry for mentioning Marco it just sort of came out.”
“Well can you sort of keep his name out your mouth?” Matt asked sarcastically.
“Geesh Matt, I told you I was sorry, you don’t have to be so mean. And I think you’re overreacting.”
“You think I’m overreacting?” Matt asked his voice tinged with steel.
Jessica crossed her arms over her chest. “I do.”
Matt shot up. “You do huh?”
Jessica’s eyes grew wide. “Matt?” she squeaked.
“See ya!” he said before stalking off across the sand.
“Matt!” Jessica jumped up and repeated his name when he didn’t stop. “Would you come back!” She waddled after him, plodding along in the sand and then the unthinkable happened, she fell face first into the sand. She heard the snickers and tears fast and furious raced down her face. Minutes later she felt a hand on her shoulder. Jessica peeked out of the corners of her eyes to find her mother kneeling next to her.
“Are you okay?”
Jessica shook off her mother’s touch and swiped her hand across her cheek accidently streaking sand over her face and creating an icky paste. “I’m fine,” Jessica mumbled as she pushed herself up. She kn
ew without looking that Matt was gone, but she looked anyway and he was not in sight. “I’m going up to my room Mom.”
“I’m here—”
“I said I was fine,” Jessica snapped then marched off in the same direction Matt had taken just a few minutes earlier.
Jessica raced into her suite. “Sam you won’t believe how stupid I was. Matt told me that he loved me and I—” she skidded to a stop. Lying in Samantha’s bed was Sean and Samantha. It took Jessica a second to process the scene and as soon as she connected the dots, she looked on in fascination. They were under the covers and it looked like they were naked.
“We were just kissing,” Samantha stammered. “That’s it.”
“Chill girl,” Sean drawled. “You don’t have to explain anything to Jessica. She’s cool.”
“But my father told you guys to behave yourselves.”
“You’re not going to tell him are you?” Samantha babbled. She loved and respected Mr. Smith and she didn’t want to disappoint him. “Oh no!” she moaned.
“Would you relax,” Sean said as he wrapped his arm around Samantha. “Jessica isn’t going to say anything.”
Just then they heard a knock on the door. “Jessica it’s your mom. I want to talk to you.”
The whole suite froze.
“Say something,” Sean hissed.
“What about?” Jessica shouted.
“Would you open this door and I’ll tell you? I hate all this yelling,” her mother said.
“Okay, hold on,” Jessica said trying to stall. “What do we do?” Jessica whispered. “If she find Sean in the suite we all are going to be in so much trouble.”
“He can hide on the balcony,” Samantha offered.
“This isn’t an old rerun of Three’s Company,” Sean answered. They loved watching TV Land.
“Bathroom?” Samantha suggested.
“The balcony isn’t such a bad idea and the weather is gorgeous,” Jessica said.
“Jessica!” her mother shouted.
“I’m coming, I just need to take off my wet bathing suit,” Jessica said. “Would you guys get out of bed and get dressed!” she ordered.
